busy weekend

busy weekend
The garden pics are from the small space I have behind my apartment in Long Beach.  The big plant is collard and is awesome.  The small rows starting to sprout are all different things my new adopted turtles are supposed to like, so hopefully we can both enjoy some stuff fresh out of the garden.  You can see LIVE streaming video of my turtles right now by clicking here.  The strawberry/coconut/agave nectar is from a wonderful smoothie I made the other day.  The fruity dessert and chilli are from Life Food Organic in Hollywood.  I had a photoshoot with some industrial band in LA on Saturday and they were so nice to me that someone got me some organic raw food to eat.  See video from the photoshoot on www.johnjohnsononline.com. The Cheezecake is a raw vegan masterpiece made by my friend Mackra.  I've had strawberry plants inmy garden for a few years and they're starting to flower again so hopefully I'll have fruit before too long.  Obviously I bought strawberries this weekend.  I put some in some banana bread that's in my dehydrator now along with some strawberry macaroons.

raw nacho cheeze

February 23, 2010
The nacho cheeze is a macadamia nut based recipe from Ani's Raw Kitchen.  I used peppers from my own garden that have been dehydrated and made into a powder with my coffee grinder.  I made it so hot I almost can't eat it.  The heart shaped bread is my ex girlfriend's idea.  she's cute like that.

i got a request for ginger bread.  I'll get started on that right away.  I'll freestyle a few things and see if any of it works.

avocado fries!

February 18, 2010
I don't know where this idea originated from, but there's a million different versions online and you can decide what works best for you.  I seriously eat this a few times a week.  I cut an avocado in half, peel the skins off, and slice each half into quarters.  8 pieces in total.  Now the great seasoning.  Without any specific measurements, I mix nutritional yeast, sea salt, pepper, chili powder, raw sesame seeds, and anything I feel like throwing in.  bread your avocado strips and there ya ...

breakfast of champions

February 12, 2010
worked on the march episode of my podcast last night.  woke up pretty late this morning and didn't have time for a big breakfast.  My dinner last night was only a couple oranges and a raw bar from the store.  For breakfast I made a salad of baby greens, some homemade cheese (walnuts, sea salt, and nutritional yeast,) and dressing (mustard, agave, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar,) a sunflower and sesame cracker,  and a smoothie of fresh young coconut meat and water, almonds, dates, and cacao p...

some fun treats.

February 12, 2010
Don't have anything special to report tonight.  I'm still worn out from my devastating trip to Miami.  But I felt like I should post something so you'll all keep coming back.  I had company the other night and needed to whip something up fast.  I started by blending some cashews really really good with a few dates and some vanilla bean seeds.  This isn't stuff I really measure anymore.  It was about a cup or more of cashews and maybe a half tablespoon of vanilla and 3 or for pitted medjool da...
