I've got big plans for the holidays. Will be traveling to the Death Valley for a few days. will spend tomorrow preparing all the food I'll need for 2 people for 3 days. Here's a picture of some raw soy sauce. I put some in a little jar that previously had some kind of spice in it. I chopped up a clove of garlic and a habanero pepper and added it in. It's been sitting in the fridge for just a few days and it's super spicy. I'm gonna use it on some mushrooms I think.

went to the vegan tour of Whole Foods in Long Beach last week. tons of vendors had tables offering samples of their products and I was surprised how many raw food companies were there. The raw restaurant 118 Degrees in Costa Mesa had a table with a book,
The Art of Raw Living Food, so I picked up a copy. There's something wonderful in the introduction I want to share.

This calls for a dehydrator. get a good one if you haven't already. I know the attached picture isn't very flattering, but this is one of the raddest things I've made from Ani's Raw Kitchen. This little recipe is hidden on page 139 and deserves more attention. After a couple of weeks of getting not so great young coconuts from the store, I finally found some really really good ones. Luckily I found this coconut jerky recipe. if you need help opening a young coconut you can obviously mes...

I love regular old soy yogurts from the health food store tons. Page 128 of "Ani's Raw Food Kitchen" has a killer recipe for an almond based yogurt. It's easy to make. sometimes I add a date or touch of agave nectar to sweeten just a little. I also add some fruit if I have it.

You can also ferment your almond yogurt. Put it into a glass jar and cover with a cheezecloth. Place it in a warm place for 8-10 hours. Let it sit until it tastes perfect for you.

I've gotten really behind on posting after the thanksgiving holiday, i was just so busy. These Pecan Pie Cookie are from ani's dessert book.
I've made these a bunch lately and started adding lemon juice instead of orange. I have a lemon tree in my backyard and it's actually got ripe lemons on it. I'm sure Ani would be proud. I also started adding about 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla seeds. It would take forever to get them from the whole bean so I just got a bag of them from Whole Foods.
