First, I've been asked to be a speaker at the Animal Liberation Forum. It's in April on campus at the state university here in Long Beach. I've been involved in the underground punk rock, and now hip hip music scenes, for over 20 years, and I'm gonna talk about the role music has in the underground animal lib movement.
Second, this website is getting a pretty good volume of traffic, increasing a lot lately. Glad you're here. I've received emails from several of you this week alone, that's ... Continue reading ...

All of these components can be found in Ani Phyo's book "Ani's Raw Kitchen." I made the crust first and dehydrated it overnight. She says her Sesame sunflower bread makes a great pizza crust so I tried it. worked perfectly. For the cheeze, I used the Italian pizza cheeze recipe. Lastly, I added some homemade parmesan on top. I have an old container that had Parma in it. instead of buying another bottle I just made my own using the same ingredients, Walnuts, Nutritional yeast, and sea sal... Continue reading ...

This isn't done yet. but here's a warning. I'll be doing pizza tonight. Made the crust last night (in the dehydrator now) and the "cheeze" this morning. Will make the sauce tonight. a couple people have asked me about pizza so I finally got around to it. I've only had raw pizza once before in Las Vegas. So far the crust and macadamia cheeze are the best ever. Continue reading ...

I've been making this rad banana bread a couple times a week for a month or more. It's become very popular with all my friends so I have to keep making it. The original recipe is from Ani's Dessert book. I pretty much wing it now. I'll add a few pecans, or goji berries, raisins, or cacao nibs. Throw in some medjool dates to sweeten if you want. I've played around with how thick to make it in the dehydrator. I've found that I like it to be a little on the thick side. The picture above ... Continue reading ...

In my first entry I started with Ani's recipe for raw oatmeal. It's continued to be a staple for me. I just take a scoop of some raw groats and soak them a couple days in some filtered water. Some soaked and dried almonds are great too. I'll add it all to the food processor with some (pitted) medjool dates and cinnamon. I like it pretty sweet and a strong cinnamon taste for sure. Add just enough water in the food processor to get the texture you like. This goes so well with fruit and ... Continue reading ...

made a parfait entry a few days ago. made the same thing today pretty much, but with strawberry and mango. Added some cacao nibs to the strawberry. just ate it all out of a bowl and man it was awesome. now I'm too stuffed for Hole Mole on 4th street. Had "coining" last night to treat my headache. http://www.ehow.com/how_2228239_prepare-coining-treatment.html. Gonna see Avatar tonight on Imax. wish me luck. Continue reading ...

Hey there. This blog gets several hits each day and I really appreciate it. I stay pretty busy with other projects I'm involved in and have to divide my attention quite a bit. To help me make this the best it can be, send me an email telling me what you've enjoyed and what you would like to see in the future. I want you to keep coming back. Hopefully you've made some of the recipes and support the authors of the recipe books by making a purchase. I bought Ani's Raw Kitchen book for 5 ch... Continue reading ...

I read the JustinMendez.com blog regularly. He recently posted that he had tried my raw brownies and loved them. I have apple slices, banana slices, coconut, and persimmon slices in the dehydrator at this very moment. I'm going up to Big Bear tomorrow and need to be prepared for a shortage of vegan food options. I also have some avocados and made some spicy mix to make avocado fries with. I added some raw sesame seeds for a little fun. Here's the brownies from Ani's dessert book.
I too... Continue reading ...
